Crapping myself about Ageing… *Please make it stop*

P1020368As I’ve entered my mid to late 20’s I’ve noticed something I have never noticed before. AGEING! Very minimal ageing but ageing non the less and I’ve been shitting myself ever since! *yes I can swear here its my blog* Not only am I having a quarter life crisis *I TURNED 25 AT MY LAST BIRTHDAY… how the Jeffery West did that happen! MY LIFE IS RUNNING AWAY WITH ME! – can you sense my panic… CAN YOU* but I’ve also noticed WRINKLES! Where did they come from! The culprits are located on my forehead and in between my brows *probably from scowling too much… Ive got me a resting bitch face * but they are there and I’d like to stop them! *HALT THERE!… YOU WILL GO NO MORE…if only*

I must stress now that I know this post is both shallow and silly, I’m 25 not 105 and there’s nothing wrong with ageing! It’s a luxury not afforded to us all but I also know that this is a thought on many a 25 year olds mind. HOWEVER let me be clear, given the choice of looking like Little Kim or Iris Apfel I would totally choose Iris. She is my life goals and an inspiration on how to rock shit forever! But I also believe that prevention is better than a cure and yes I would like to stay looking as youthful as possible for as long as possible *even if my soul feels like a shrivelled up dried apricot.* So after much research *or panicking* I have found a solution! SPF. They say the leading cause of ageing skin is sun damage! *as well as smoking but I don’t do that so that’s easy to cut out… if only dieting was this simple (I digress)*  Its proven that the suns UV rays penetrates the skin damaging its support structure, breaking down collagen and elastin, and thus causing wrinkles. Basically F**K YOU sun!

So in a bid to halt this ageing process I have chosen SPF, specifically a broad spectrum SPF that offers protection against both UVA and UVB rays *so im covered for both ageing (UVA) and burning (UVB)!* because not only will applying SPF on the daily help slow down the appearance of wrinkles but it will also help towards protecting against skin cancer *winner*

My current choice is the Kate Somerville Daily Deflector Moisturiser with Broad Spectrum SPF50+. I’ve been using this on the daily and it hasn’t broken me out (as some SPFs can- but I always make sure to cleanse thoroughly every evening) nor does it feel vile to wear, I use this on top of my current moisturiser (Lancome’s Energie de Vie Liquid Moisturiser) as a specific ‘SPF step’ but you could always just use this as a moisturiser on its own as its nice and hydrating. If I were to be really picky it’s a tiny tiny bit sticky when you first apply it but that soon dries down and its rather expensive and hard to get hold (which is why I only use it as my SPF step so it lasts longer #TightArse) I’m no expert but I feel safe in the knowledge that’s it’s got a high SPF50+ rating and with both UVA and UVB protection I feel like im doing my very best at shielding myself.

I’ve got the Body Shops Skin Defence Multi Protection Essence SPF 50 to try next. I’ve played with this on my hand and it feels so light and silky so I’m really looking forward to putting this through the ringer, plus I’ve heard loads of good reviews! If you’ve got any SPF recommendations holla and let this girl know, and if all else fails I’ll just model myself on Iris Apfel and rock that shit till I die!
